This book is unique in that it isn't an ordinary picture book by Eric Carle, but it is a bilingual book that is written in both English and Japanese with the help of Kazuo Iwamura. It follows a dog and cat who come together as friends at the beginning of the book. Then it follows this pair as they are joined by countless other animals such as a rooster, goat, and more. This book uses rhyme and repetition that makes it fun for readers, and as well has a question and response like format. I like this book because it is not only easy to read, but it is written in a way that makes it enjoyable for young readers, and is in two languages that can help ELL students or teach other students a new language.
